The subject, either as the composer, the performer or audience, develops sensibilities towards the systems at play within the creative process. This development is defined and shaped in time and depends on the cognitive and sensorial capacities of the subject. The research on the one hand tries to trace the origine of systems in general back within the mind that perceives them and therefore in a way creates or conceptualises the existence through cognitive instruments that possesses in order to “make sense” of the amount of data that the subject may take in and process in a given amount of time. On the other hand, the research tries to create a dynamic relation between the systems at play and the systems to be created by the subjects involve in the conception of the work of art. Hence, the research proposes Sounds-Theatre as a means of artistic practice-based research that acts as a laboratory in order to put into practice various situations in which subjects and systems come into play in an interwoven mutual connection. The laboratory offers an ever-evolving system of games that always arrive at different results. This system of games takes models from nature using the fundamental concepts of complex systems in order to result in forms comparable to complex phenomenon in nature such as turbulent flow in fluids mechanics. Sounds-theatre tries to work in a poly-cultural paradigm by taking cultural elements e.g. tuning systems of different musical traditions down to their roots in order to arrive at a maximum level of abstraction of that culture. By putting the abstract images attained into an interplay of systems and sensible subjects, and by considering the inter-relation of multi-sensory perception, Sounds-Theatre puts into play the sensibilities attained in each rehearsal to arrive at a systematic kind of composition in which the results depends existentially on the subjective contributions of the individuals.

Vahid Hosseini

Milan, 2023

COLETTIVO RE-ACT In collaboration with Conservatorio G.
